Ephesians 3:20 - "Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us,"
God's nature is to "give us more than we can think to ask."
"We are like children asking for what we think we need when we think we need it. But God gives us what we really need in the perfect time and in the way that will bring us closer to Him."
Did you ever pray for something and what you asked for was so much smaller than what God gave you? I can only think of a handful of times when this has happened, but when it does you are just amazed at how small your prayer really was. We don't realize what we really need until God shows us.
When I am faced with a crisis and struggle, there are some things that are beyond my control, but I can do my part. I can do what I know to do and leave the rest to God."
"So often we expect things to come to us. That way we never have to get messy enough to ask for God's help. But our fear of becoming desperate - of being exposed as that vulnerable, bruised reed - is what hinders us from playing a part in what God wants to do."
I've been in situations where I have felt desperate and vulnerable. They are horrible feelings. You want to crawl back in your hole and never come out. But if you don't put yourself out there to feeling desperate and being vulnerable, you can miss out on some of the best moments of your life. So many times, I have chosen to not show my heart to people, thinking I was protecting myself. But, in my desperate bid to protect myself, I may have missed out on some really great meaningful relationships.
And when they go away, you realize you didn't put your heart into it for fear of being vulnerable. When you are vulnerable is when you are really being you. It is hard. It is exposing your innermost feelings. You can get hurt. You are actually showing where you hurt the most. If you choose not to, than you may just have to face the fact that the other person doesn't feel like having a relationship with someone who is not real. You are just portraying a person you want to be instead of who you really are.
God wants us desperate and vulnerable. It is the only way He can use us. If I want to hide in my shell and not expose myself, I render myself useless. No one will ever be inspired by me and God will not be able to reveal Himself through me.
